Meet The Artists
Francois van der Merwe
The visionary founder of Live Light Stained Glass.
A graduate in fine art from Nelson Mandela University, Francois’s artistic journey flourished during his six-month restoration work on a historic church in Port Elizabeth under mentor Donald Woodhead. His skills further evolved during eight enriching years in Ireland, where he worked with Aria Stained Glass under the Irish Heritage Council.
Returning to South Africa in 2009, Francois founded Live Light Stained Glass in Paarl, where his commitment to craftsmanship and tradition is reflected in every meticulously designed, manufactured, restored, painted, and conserved stained glass window and ceiling installation.
Celeste van der Merwe
Celeste refined her skills during a six-year apprenticeship in Ireland with Aria Stained Glass, under the guidance of the Irish Heritage Council.
Since joining Live Light Stained Glass in 2014, Celeste has become an essential part of the team, showcasing her dedication through the intricate and vibrant work she contributes.
At Live Light Stained Glass, Celeste plays a crucial role in both restoring and primarily manufacturing a variety of windows, ensuring each piece is a testament to her passion and talent.
